How To Give Your Hair Brush A Bath
The most dreaded word when it comes to hair care is hair fall. And you know what’s even scarier? Spotting strands of hair on your comb or brush! Yes, the remains of hair damage tend to be depressing, but there are more reasons to clean up your brush. Read on to know why:
  • Your brush attracts just as much dirt and grime as your scalp. You wash your hair 2-3 times a week, but what about your brush?
  • Take a close look at the brush, you’ll see a host of things from hair strands, dirt specs, dandruff, grimy remains near the core, and even burned up bristles!
  • Every time you comb, these particles get transferred back to your hair.
  • When you wash your hair, you comb when half dry, all the grime from the brush sticks to your freshly washed hair.
  • What’s more, every time you blow dry your hair, you probably use a product, like a serum or hair spray, and that tends to get transferred to the brush and you are left with a product build-up that attracts even more dust and prevents you from getting the desired styling.
Long story short, your hair brush needs a bath, just like your hair. Follow these hair care tips to learn how to do it:
  • Step 1 – Take a clean bowl, fill it up with warm water.
  • Step 2 – Pour a spoon of mild hair cleanser into the water. Do not use a soap or shower gel, because that will only leave more residue.
  • Step 3 – Make sure the water lathers up considerably.
  • Step 4 – Dip the comb/brush into the bowl such that the bristles are immersed in water
  • Step 5 – Let it sit for 5 minutes or so.
  • Step 6 – Using a loofah or toothbrush, rub the core of the brush and massage it with your fingers.
  • Step 7 - If the comb is of a light colour, make sure you don’t see any grime on the teeth. In fact, our hair care tip is to use a hair brush or comb that isn’t the same colour as your hair, this will help you monitor the remains on your brush and schedule a wash in time.
  • Step 8 - Rinse them well in cold water. You might want to repeat this step a couple of times so that all the shampoo is removed.
  • Step 9 - Now lay it out to dry naturally or blow dry on medium heat.
  • Step 10 - There! You’re left with clean bristles that don’t damage your hair and give you a better blowout.
Now just remember to do this once a week!
